You just got yourself a new classic car?

If you just purchased a classic car for yourself there are several things that you should do to make sure it remains reliable.

The first thing you need to do is change the oil and filter.  Don’t rely on the color of the oil.  It could have been in the engine a long time and contains moisture.

Next, flush your coolant system.   It needs to be fully flushed.  Don’t just empty the radiator and refill it.  You need to take the time to flush out the block.  If you don’t want to change the thermostat, ensure that the car is hot enough to have your thermostat open so that you really are flushing the block.

Most people rarely change their brake fluid.  This would be a good time to get the contaminates out of your brake system so that you do not rupture a line.

You just spent your hard earned money on a classic, don’t skimp out on the basics.

Next time, we will talk about filters.
